Americans for Tax Reform has long pushed conservative lawmakers to promise that they will never raise taxes. In the wake of the 2012 election and the need for a dealto avert going over the fiscal cliff, some lawmakers are now backing off their promises. And Republican leaders in the state legislature have already conceded that $620 million worth of taxes due to sunset will have to be extended for another two years.
