Two Spirits

"Two Spirits" tells the story of transgender teen Fred Martinez. But it's not just another hate crime story. Martinez was a Navajo and filmmaker Lydia Nibley uses the story to explore the complicated ideas of sexuality in Navajo culture. Centuries ago Navajo cosmology accepted and explained sexual differerence but no longer. The film will be screened Saturday at the Clark County Library and a discussion with director Lydia Nibley will follow.
