Judge Will Hear Discrimination Suit Against Sheriff Joe Arpaio

A four-year-old discrimination lawsuit against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio will be heard by a judge this month. The class action suit alleges Arpaio's office engaged in institutional discrimination against Latinos in Maricopa County and that the department's policy on undocumented immigrants led to the violation of U.S. citizens' rights.

Plaintiffs in the suit allege they were unlawfully detained, some for as many as 9 hours, after being stopped by Maricopa County deputies because they were Latino. The suit could have big ramifications on immigration enforcement in Arizona in the wake of the Supreme Court's ruling on SB 1070. KJZZ reporter Jude Joffe-Block joins us to talk about the impact the case could have on immigration enforcement.
