Living with Multiple Sclerosis

When doctors told Elizabeth McElroy that she had multiple sclerosis (MS), she started crying on the drive home.  "I knew it would completely change our lives," she said.  One morning, she woke up partly paralyzed.  Another morning, she woke up blind.  Since then, she has slowly lost control of her body and relies more on her husband.  Patients with MS, and a doctor whose mother has MS, share their stories of frustration, hope, and how the disease has changed them and their families.
