    A poker enthusiast from Argentina won the World Series of Poker Sunday night at the Rio in Las Vegas.

    Damian Salas claimed the championship title after a final duel against Joseph Hebert from Louisiana.

    There are 89 events scheduled into the summer, with a total purse of more than $266 million. 

    Last year’s tournament drew more than 120,000 participants, and main event winner John Cynn won some $8.8 million dollars.

    World Series of Poker Sees Nearly 121,000 Players This Year

    LAS VEGAS (AP) — The World Series of Poker has had a record-breaking summer in Las Vegas.

    Organizers on Monday said the annual poker extravaganza shattered its attendance record with 120,995 entrants. That's an increase of more than 13,000 players compared to 2016.
