Residents in some areas of Clark County can claim a free tree from the county’s Department of Environment & Sustainability, beginning October 6. They are teaming with the Arbor Day Foundation to continue the “urban forest” project started last year, giving away another 2,300 trees to help battle the urban heat island effect.

“The Community Canopy Project fulfills one of our All-In Clark County goals to make our community more climate resilient,” said Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson.

More information on the program and eligibility is available on the Clark County website.
