In celebration of National Park Week, all national parks in the U.S. are waiving entrance fees on Saturday, April 16.
Nevada is home to only one national park, Great Basin National Park, about 4.5 hours northeast from Las Vegas. Lake Mead will also be fee-free.
Parks near the Silver State include Joshua Tree, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Death Valley, Yosemite, Lassen Volcanic, Zion, Grand Canyon, Capitol Reef and Bryce Canyon.

While the rest of the nation is ramping up operations, a Death Valley National Park spokesperson said the park is preparing for increasing temperatures and a hot summer ahead.
Due to increasing heat, Sunset, Texas Springs and Stovepipe Wells campgrounds are scheduled to close for the summer season at noon on Monday April 18.
Camping fees still apply. Other upcoming fee free days include:
- Thursday, Aug. 4 – Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
- Saturday, Sept. 24 – National Public Lands Day
- Friday, Nov. 11 – Veterans Day
