Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak on Tuesday announced a $20 million investment of American Rescue Act funds for the state's crisis stabilization centers.

Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, Congresswoman Susie Lee, Congresswoman Steven Horsford and Lieutenant Governor Lisa Cano Burkhead also attended the Healthcare Provider Summit at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

He was joined by Nevada leaders, as well as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra, who announced the federal government will provide the state of Nevada with an additional $1 million to prepare for the national launch of 988.

“This is a critical time to make this investment as we look to the launch of 988, the new behavioral health and crisis phone number,” Sisolak said.

“But it started long before this with legislation that was passed and signed over our past two legislative sessions. The 988 call line will provide connection to caring individuals, but once established, these Crisis Stabilization Centers will provide the welcoming environment to support individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.”

The new hotline is scheduled to launch nationwide July 16, and will be available at all hours, seven days a week.
