Vitalant's donation center is seen on March 25, 2022 in Las Vegas.

The pandemic had a significant effect on blood donations.

Now that most restrictions have been lifted, Vitalant spokesperson Brittany Estrella says blood donations are increasing but remain at an “urgent” level.

She says Type O blood is urgently needed because it is a universal blood type.

A community blood drive is being held Saturday at the Las Vegas Ballpark from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Everyone who donates will receive a pair of tickets to a Las Vegas Aviator game.
