Blood donations increase in Las Vegas, but 'urgent' need remains
The pandemic had a significant effect on blood donations.
In January, KNPR told you how blood supplies had reached a critically low level, mostly due to the pandemic keeping people away.
Now that most restrictions have been lifted, Vitalant spokesperson Brittany Estrella says blood donations are increasing but remain at an “urgent” level.
She says Type O blood is urgently needed because it is a universal blood type.
A community blood drive is being held Saturday at the Las Vegas Ballpark from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Everyone who donates will receive a pair of tickets to a Las Vegas Aviator game.
