Official: Heavily Armed Man Was Arrested Las Vegas-Area Airport

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 45-year-old Nevada man faces a federal weapons charge after he was arrested at a suburban Las Vegas-area airport clad in a ballistic vest and carrying a handgun and a machete knife.

U.S. Attorney Nicholas Trutanich said Monday that Etori Hughes of Las Vegas was arrested Jan. 30 after trying to enter a business at Henderson Executive Airport.

Hughes allegedly had a handgun, high-capacity ammunition magazines, swords, a smoke grenade, gas mask and other items in a car. Trutanich says Hughes was banned in 2012 in New Orleans from possessing firearms.
