NTSB Looking At Fatal Nevada Highway Truck-Bicyclists Crash

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Federal investigators are focusing on the crash of a box truck that killed five bicyclists on a stretch of Nevada highway in December while they consider new safety recommendations.

The National Transportation Safety Board issued a brief preliminary report Thursday about the Dec. 10 crash that led to the arrest of Arizona truck driver Jordan Barson on felony charges including driving under the influence causing death.

Prosectors say Barson had methamphetamine in his system when his truck hit the cyclists on U.S. 95 between Boulder City and Searchlight, Nevada. Barson is jailed pending a Feb. 4 court date in Las Vegas.
