Fire Tears Through Site Of New Las Vegas Apartment Complex

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Firefighters in Las Vegas are putting out any lingering hot spots of a blaze that destroyed an apartment complex that had been under construction.

Fire officials say the fire was reported late Monday night in a neighborhood in southwest Las Vegas. Fueled by gusty winds, it took 100 firefighters from more than one jurisdiction to help extinguish it.

Authorities ended up evacuating several nearby residents when embers spread over several blocks. No injuries were reported.
