RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities in Nevada have asked the Washoe County Commission for permission to charge a fee for providing body-worn camera footage to the public.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reported that the Washoe County sheriff's office has recommended charging $200 for every hour that a staff member works on redacting the footage.
A staff report said it takes about an hour to redact about 10 minutes of footage. Deputies have argued there has been an increase in requests for copies and it is a time-consuming task.

The commission is scheduled to discuss the recommendation Dec. 8. If approved, the additional charges would go into effect in January.
