A learning strategist at Booker Innovative Elementary School in Las Vegas has been named 2021 Nevada Teacher of the Year.
Juliana Urtubey received the award during a virtual ceremony with Gov. Steve Sisolak and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jhone Ebert.
Urtubey said her students and their families inspire her, and she is grateful to be able to serve them.
It’s her first year at Booker after 10 years at Crestwood Elementary, also in Las Vegas. She will represent Nevada in the National Teacher of the Year competition.
