LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge reset arraignment for a 20-year-old man facing trial in Nevada state court in the shooting of a Las Vegas police officer during a protest on the Las Vegas Strip.
Edgar Samaniego's attorney sought a delay Monday after a local judge decided Friday there was enough evidence to try Samaniego on attempted murder, battery, assault with a weapon and firearms charges. The June 1 shooting critically wounded Officer Shay Mikalonis.
He was wounded in the head and paralyzed from the neck down. Samaniego remains jailed on $1 million bail pending his next court date Sept. 17.
