Sen. Cortez Masto Pushes For More Protection For Nursing Homes During Pandemic

Nevada U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto spoke Wednesday on the Senate floor about protecting Nevadans in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities from COVID-19.

She called on the Senate to pass legislation she’s co-sponsoring that includes more funding for PPE, testing, staffing, and other support.

“Residents and staff of these facilities shouldn’t be an afterthought—they are a core part of our communities and our health care system," she said, "They are our elders, and they are the keepers of our stories. We have to do more to protect them.”

Cortez Masto says the Nursing Home Covid-19 Protection and Prevention Act will give families “peace of mind that there is accountability for providers and protections in place for workers.”
