Las Vegas Police: Armed Man shot Dead In Home With Woman Hostage

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police shot and killed an armed man who was sought for questioning about several neighborhood fires and eluded an officer's gunshot before taking a woman hostage in a mobile home.

The woman was not harmed, but police Capt. Nichole Splinter said Monday the man was killed by SWAT officers who entered the home before noon and saw him with a gun.

The name of the slain man and the officers involved were not immediately made public. Splinter says the man pointed a handgun at the officer who fired the shot during a chase about 9:15 a.m.

How is Las Vegas' healthcare system really doing, and what does it mean for you and your family? Desert Companion's Health Issue takes a deep dive into these questions and explores how heart-centered business leaders prove that doing good benefits the bottom line.
