Cottonwood Fire 5 Percent Contained

The Cottonwood Fire southwest of Las Vegas has expanded to 2,834 acres with 5 percent containment.

Crews are starting to get a handle on the wildfire, which grew very little overnight, the U.S. Forest Service said in a statement Wednesday morning.

The fire is burning near Cottonwood Pass south of Highway 160. Firefighters on the ground and helicopters dropping water worked to control the fire, during breezy conditions today.
