Rare June Snow, Freezing Temperatures In Parts Of Nevada

RENO, Nev. (AP) — More seasonable weather is forecast to return to northern Nevada this week after an unusually cold mass of air pushed lows below freezing and dropped rare June snow on parts of the state.

The trace of snow at Elko Sunday tied a 41-old-year record and Winnemucca reported its first snow ever for the date since record-keeping began in 1877.

Up to an inch of rain fell Sunday in parts of Reno, where the low dropped to 35 early Monday. Other lows included 26 at Ely and 27 at Minden. Highs should return to the 80s before another cold front approaches this weekend.
