Reno Mayor Lifts City's Curfew

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve has lifted a curfew she originally said would continue indefinitely “out of an abundance of caution for public safety.”

Schieve’s order came under criticism from local businesses and civil rights activists after she issued it Tuesday. Now instead, Reno police will crack down on gatherings larger than 50 people between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The mayor was prompted to implement the curfews amid days of Black Lives Matter protests nationwide, some of which have turned violent and destructive.
