The Southern Nevada Water Authority has officially canceled its long-standing proposal to pump groundwater from rural Nevada to Las Vegas.
The authority’s board voted to move the project into indefinite deferred status, revoking water rights applications filed in 1989 and its application for a 300-mile right of way with the Bureau of Land Management.
The decision follows a March order from a judge that had ruled applications for the project illegal.
