Cold Rain, Snow In Northern Nevada Before Warm, Dry Weekend

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Strong gusty winds, snow in the mountains and rain in the valleys remain in the forecast for most of northern Nevada into Wednesday before warmer weather returns for the weekend.

A winter weather advisory expired Tuesday in northeast Nevada as far south as Tonopah. But snow mixed with rain is expected to continue into Wednesday, with up to 6 inches of snow at the highest elevations.

Winds were gusting in excess of 70 mph early Tuesday at Great Basin National Park. Another couple inches of snow is possible Tuesday night in the mountains around Lake Tahoe. Highs could reach 80 by Sunday in Reno.
