Burning Man Organizers Sue Over Records Release

The Burning Man Project is suing the Bureau of Land Management to prevent the release of its financial records to a Pershing County official who believes the county deserves more money from the nonprofit group.

The arts festival held in the Black Rock Desert, part of which is located in Pershing County, draws some 80,000 people to the area each year.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the BLM notified Burning Man in March of intent to release records to a member of the Pershing County Economic Development Authority who requested the information.

Burning Man is arguing the BLM is seeking to illegally release confidential records. The Burning Man 2020 festival was recently canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
