Nevada is reporting 178 COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, prisons and other institutional settings, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
A new online tracking tool shows 92 residents and 85 staff members infected at 32 facilities across the state, with 24 of them in Clark County, six in Washoe County, and one each in Carson City and White Pine County.
Assisted living centers are among the hardest hit because they serve seniors and others at higher risk for complications from the virus.
The worst hit, so far, is the Willow Springs residential treatment facility for youth in Reno. They report 51 cases — 32 residents and 19 staff – and the death of one staff member.
Prisons have also become a problem because social distancing is difficult.
