New Task Force Created To Fight COVID-19 Fraud

The attorney general and the U.S. attorney have formed new task force to fight COVID-19 scams and fraud.

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford and U.S. Attorney Nicholas Trutanich. announced the new task force Monday.

The Nevada COVID-19 Task Force involves 15 agencies -- local, state and federal-- with experience handling complaints and cases in the various fields of fraud: health care, Medicaid, insurance, and general, among others, and cybercrime.

Ford’s office says the purpose of the task force is to share information and resources to protect Nevadans.

There have already been scams involving coronavirus testing, cures, and treatments, along with scams targeting the unemployed and those wanting to help through charities.
