Panasonic announced that it’s planning to close its factory east of Sparks.
In an email sent to company employees, factory officials said they’ll start to reduce operations early this week and will then close for 14 days.
In a statement, a Panasonic spokesman said the decision was made to safeguard the health and well-being of employees.

Panasonic shares the gigafactory at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Complex with Tesla.
The spokesman also said that employees affected by the closure would receive full pay and benefits for the two-week closure period.
Tesla meanwhile, announced that it would close its factory in Fremont, California on Monday, but that its other factories, including its Nevada Gigafactory, would continue to operate.
