Las Vegas Hospitals Would Get More Help After Attacks Under Plan

LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas-area authorities have started working on a plan to help hospitals following mass-casualty incidents after discovering a need for more emergency treatment support during the fatal Route 91 Harvest festival shooting in 2017.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that retired Clark County Fire Chief Greg Cassell said hospitals have trouble handling an influx of shooting victims without some help, so the proposed hospital area command plan would provide more support to triage patients, replenish supplies or clean up used spaces.

Cassell addressed emergency responders from across the country during a four-day conference, offering advice on how to handle active shooter situations.
