Nye County Commissioners plan to vote next week on an 1,100-word resolution praising what it says are President Trump’s accomplishments in office.
The five-page measure contains 50 separate elements, with many mentioning the low unemployment rates among various demographic groups. Others include references to efforts to lower prescription drug prices and withdrawing from the Paris climate accord.
The measure was introduced by Commissioner Leo Blundo, who was elected to his first term in 2018. It is item No. 29 on the agenda for Thursday’s county commission meeting.
Blundo said he asked for the item to be drafted because he “wanted to acknowledge the accomplishments” of the Trump administration.
“We need to talk about the solutions,” he said. “We need to talk about how we’re going to make this a great nation.”
Trump took 68 percent of the Nye County vote when he ran against Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Blundo is also campaigning as a Republican to unseat Rep. Steven Horsford, a Democrat, in Nevada’s Fourth Congressional District.
