Suspect In Ex-Priest's Slaying Sent To Las Vegas To Face Charges

A suspect in the killing of a former priest has been returned to Las Vegas from Michigan to face charges.

Records show that 26-year-old Derrick Decoste was booked Monday at the Clark County jail pending a court appearance on armed robbery and murder charges in the death of former priest John Capparelli.

It wasn't immediately clear if Decoste has a lawyer.

The 70-year-old Capprelli was fatally shot last March, several weeks after church officials in New Jersey named him among 180 priests accused of sexual abuse.

Henderson police said it appeared robbery was the motive for the killing.
