A local hemp grower in Carson City is suing the city for trying to block a cannabis farm on about 100 acres of city-owned property near the Carson River.
Tahoe Hemp LLC filed a lawsuit this month seeking up to $15 million.
It accuses Carson City of breaching a contract the city signed with the property's former owner.
The city says some of the land was obtained under a state grant prohibiting any uses other than ranching or preserving open space, cultural or wildlife resources.
Tahoe Hemp says the previous owner maintained agricultural rights there when the city bought the land nearly 10 years ago.
