Nevada Man Ordered To Move Out Of Renovated Mine Shaft Home

A Nevada man who has lived in an abandoned mine shaft for seven years has been given 30 days to vacate his renovated, underground home.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Boulder City police delivered the eviction notice to 68-year-old Richard Roman on Dec. 19.

City officials say they determined Roman was violating four city codes and two state laws and raising numerous health and safety concerns.

The mine is near U.S. Highway 93 in an undeveloped area of the city 26 miles southeast of Las Vegas. Roman says he is looking for new housing in Las Vegas.
