Reno Moves Ahead With Allowing E-Bikes, Scooter-Share Services To Return

The Reno City Council unanimously approved the introduction of two ordinances that would allow electric scooter-share businesses to return.

The measures align the city with a new state law that allows local leaders to regulate and impose fees on those businesses.

They prohibit companies from providing dockless bicycle, electric bicycle or electric scooter-share services without Reno’s explicit approval.

Both ordinances need to be formally adopted at a future city council meeting before they can take effect.

The scooter-share business Lime had a surprise September 2018 roll-out of around 100 e-scooters and were asked to leave in March.
