New Detention Basin Removes Nearly 200 Acres From Flood Zone Status

A now-completed detention basin in Henderson has made it so dozens of acres downstream will no longer be considered a federally designated flood zone.

Pittman North Detention Basin is the 100th basin constructed by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District. It's located off St. Rose Parkway near the Lion Habitat Ranch, M Resort and the Raiders headquarters and practice facility, which is currently under construction.

The $23.5 million project was started in 2018. The City of Henderson oversaw the project, which was essentially finished in the first week of October but some excavation and hauling is still being finished.
