'Storm Area 51' Event In Hiko Cancelled; 'Alienstock' Still On In Rachel

Organizers have pulled the plug on an Area 51-themed event in the Nevada desert.

Executive producer Keith Wright told the Las Vegas Review-Journal his team decided to cancel Area 51 Basecamp in Hiko after an underwhelming turnout to see DJ Paul Oakenfold perform last night and low ticket presales for today.

The bulk of people answering an internet invitation to "Storm Area 51" are attending the Alienstock festival in Rachel, which is still on through tomorrow. More than 15-hundred people showed up for yesterday’s Alienstock events.

There have been 5 arrests connected with Area 51-related events since Thursday. A man reported missing after heading out Thursday toward an Area 51 gate was found safe Friday evening. One man was treated in Rachel for dehydration, but no serious injuries have been reported.
