Developer Wants To Rename Debbie Reynolds Drive In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Officials in Las Vegas might rename a short street called Debbie Reynolds Drive at the request of a developer planning a new hotel.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the Clark County Planning Commission is scheduled on Tuesday to take up Lorenzo Doumani's application to rename the street just off the Las Vegas Strip as Majestic Plaza Place.

Doumani plans to open his $850 million Majestic Resort and Spa in 2023.

The street was named in 1996 for Reynolds' hotel, which was the only property on it.

She bought the hotel in 1993. It closed in 1998 after she filed for bankruptcy. It was demolished in 2015.

Reynolds and daughter Carrie Fisher died in 2016.

Todd Fisher told the Review-Journal that his mother performed in Las Vegas from 1962 through 2013.
