Sheriff Lombardo Reports Drop In Crime In Clark County

Violent crime is down in the Las Vegas valley this year.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo says the valley has seen a drop in violent and property crimes, fatal crashes and homicides through mid-2019.

While speaking to Las Vegas residents at the annual Lunch with the Sheriff at Red Rock Resort Thursday, Lombardo reported violent crime is down 12 percent, homicide is down 38 percent while traffic fatalities are down 20 percent.

Lombardo said Metro’s focus going forward will be a $25 million, reality-based training center to benefit multiple law enforcement agencies in the valley.

The department is still in the fundraising stages of that project, recently surpassing the halfway mark.
