Water Authority To Ask County To Make Temporary Tax Permanent

On Thursday, the Southern Nevada Water Authority will ask the Clark County Commission to consider making permanent a temporary tax that’s already raised more than $1 billion.

A quarter-cent sales tax went into effect in 1998, but it expires in 2025.

State officials estimate that a quarter-cent sales tax raises about $108 million a year.
