Washoe County Health Officials Crack Down On CBD Added To Food

Washoe County health officials are cracking down on foods containing cannabidiol, better known as CBD, a byproduct of marijuana or hemp.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the Washoe County Health District has issued cease and desist orders on businesses that add CBD to food.

County officials say CBD is not currently listed as a safe food additive by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, so they are waiting for guidance from federal or state officials.
