Reno Rodeo Honors Slaying Victims With Special Plaque

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Reno Rodeo Association has placed a plaque in front of the rodeo arena grandstand in recognition of a former association president and his wife who were victims of a homicide in January.

Jerry and Sherri David were fatally shot in their Reno home days after police say their assailant also shot two women in Gardnerville.

Jerry David was the president of the Reno Rodeo in 2006. Sherri was a longtime member of the rodeo association. Both remained active in the organization until their deaths.

The plaque was placed this week in front of the main grandstand dedicating the area to the Davids "in recognition of their tireless work for the benefit of Reno Rodeo."

Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman, a Salvadoran in the country illegally, is scheduled to be tried in April on four murder charges.
