Las Vegas Man Suing After Discovering Metal Wire Left In His Chest After Surgery

A jury in Las Vegas is hearing a case this week of a Las Vegas man who was left with a 57-inch metal wire in his body after an angioplasty procedure in 2005.

German Ortiz lived with the wire for over a decade before discovering it.

Ortiz’ lawyers are asking a jury to award him upward of $800,000 from the cardiologist who performed the procedure. The suit alleges medical malpractice, professional negligence and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

How is Las Vegas' healthcare system really doing, and what does it mean for you and your family? Desert Companion's Health Issue takes a deep dive into these questions and explores how heart-centered business leaders prove that doing good benefits the bottom line.
