CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar made her first campaign visit to Northern Nevada and told an audience that Democrats cannot afford to leave Americans in rural areas behind in next year's election.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the Democrat and U.S. senator from Minnesota attended a round table event with military veterans on Thursday in Carson City.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Klobuchar expressed support for the popular election of presidents. The U.S. senator says she would love to make the change but does not "know if that is possible."
Her comments came the same day as Nevada's Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak vetoed a bill that would have pledged the state's Electoral College votes to the presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote.
