LAS VEGAS (AP) — A gunshot fired inside a mall on the Las Vegas Strip prompted an evacuation and a heavy police response Monday.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the gunshot caused a frenzy at the Fashion Show mall, sending people racing toward exits.
Police say the preliminary investigation indicates one shot was fired as a fight broke up. No injuries were reported.
Authorities did not say whether anyone had been apprehended in the shooting.
Officers blocked mall entrances for hours Monday night, and police vehicles lined the north side of the shopping center.
Las Vegas resident Kelly Chacon says she and her mother saw people frantically running, so they took off to find an exit.
She says she didn't hear the gunshot, but people were shouting there was an active shooter.
