Nevada Inmate Serving Child Sex Sentence Dies In Prison

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Prison officials say a 64-year-old inmate who was serving 20 years to life for his convictions on child sex charges has died behind bars.

The Nevada Department of Corrections says David Villegas died Monday at a hospice care unit at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City.

A cause of death was not reported. An autopsy was scheduled.

Clark County District Court records show that Villegas was charged in 2009 and convicted by a jury in Las Vegas in 2011 of lewdness and attempted lewdness, both with a child under 14.
