Conservationists Move To Have Bundy Lawsuit Dismissed

The Center for Biological Diversity filed a court motion Thursday to dismiss a lawsuit by Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy which aims to have all federal public land turned over to the state.

The group filed the motion in the 8 th Judicial District Court in Las Vegas, which says courts have rejected Bundy’s claims numerous times and this latest lawsuit is no different.

Bundy’s lawsuit seeks to have more than 58 million acres of land, including national parks and monuments, transferred to the state of Nevada.

Bundy and his sympathizers believe the federal government lacks constitutional authority to own and manage federal public lands.

When federal land managers attempted to round up Bundy’s cattle for illegal grazing, it led to the 2014 armed standoff with militia members and law enforcement.

In December the court granted the Center’s motion to intervene in this latest lawsuit.
