Outside Spending On Nevada Governor, Other Races Topped $48M

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The close contest for Nevada governor and other competitive state races this year drew at least $48.6 million in outside spending.

State campaign finance records show political action committees that focused at least some of their efforts on the governor's race reported spending about $38 million on advertisements from Jan. 1 through Nov. 2.

Some of that money may have been spent on candidates running for other state offices but Nevada campaign finance laws do not require political action committees to detail t how much they spent on behalf of a particular candidate.

Most of the groups focused their spending heavily on the governor's race between Republican Adam Laxalt and Democrat Steve Sisolak and the primary between Sisolak and Chris Giunchigliani.
