Reno's Emergency Homeless Shelter To Return For The Winter

The City of Reno announced the return of an emergency homeless shelter that will be set up through the duration of the winter season.

The large tent will have heat, electricity and restroom facilities and enough beds for 50 people.

The Community Assistance Center, as well as other overflow shelters in Reno, have been consistently full, even in the summer months because of a rise in the region’s homeless population.

The tent was started last year as a way to protect the homeless from the cold.

The $60,000 project will be funded through an agreement between the City of Reno, Washoe County and the City of Sparks.
