Judge Nullifies Assembly District 5 Election Results

A Las Vegas judge on Friday nullified the results of a Republican primary election.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Clark County District Judge Jim Crockett declared Mack Miller the winner of the June primary for the Republican nomination for state Assembly District 5, despite the fact that Miller received 122 fewer votes than Jason Burke.

In declaring Miller the winner, Judge Crockett said Burke failed to file campaign finance reports in time.

The secretary of state’s office said Tuesday that a failure to file campaign finance reports is not an automatic disqualifier under Nevada law.

An attorney for Burke said he planned to file a motion to rescind Judge Crockett’s decision.
