Former Howard Hughes Estate Sells At Tahoe For $17.5 Million

CRYSTAL BAY, Nev. (AP) — A lakefront mansion at Lake Tahoe once owned by reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes has told for $17.5 million.

The Tahoe Tribune reported Tuesday former Nevada Gov. and U.S. Sen. Tasker Oddie and his wife, Daisy, built an authentic log cabin on the north shore property in 1934 in Crystal Bay just east of the California line.

Tahoe Luxury Properties says that by 1950, Hughes had purchased the estate named "Summertide." The most recent owners bought it from the Howard Hughes Company in 1995.

The estate near the shuttered Cal-Neva hotel-casino includes five separate parcels totaling 5.5 acres with 500 feet of lake frontage, a lakeside deck, pier and two buoys.

Tahoe Luxury Properties handled the recent sale, but it didn't disclose the names of the previous or new owners.
