Washoe County School District To Build Homes For Gerlach Teachers

The Washoe County School District will spend $640,000 to build four single-wide mobile homes and two double-wide homes for teachers at Gerlach School.

The district said it has been hard to recruit teachers willing to work in such a remote area, and in addition to that, housing has been hard to find with Gerlach's population boom.

The district said it hasn't been necessary to provide teacher housing for any of its other schools, but it is happening at other school districts across the country, including Vail, Arizona, and Palo Alto, California.
