Federal Officials Traced More Than 5K Guns In Nevada in 2017

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Federal officials say they helped Nevada law enforcement agencies trace more than 5,000 confiscated guns last year.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives reports about 83 percent of the guns were recovered in Las Vegas.

Most of the weapons were pistols, typically a 9 mm.

The Las Vegas Sun reports that guns that were traced out of Nevada came mostly from California, followed by Arizona, Utah and Texas.

The report says not all firearms used in crimes are traced and not all traced firearms were used in a crime.
